How We Work

How Biotik works — a remote-first studio on a four-day week, London and Tallinn

Biotik transcends typical work norms. We run on a four-day workweek, work fully remotely across London, Tallinn and the wider EU, and give every team member global health coverage. This page explains how we work — and why we’re convinced it makes the work better, not slower.

A four-day workweek

We work four days, not five — genuinely less time, protected, not five days’ work crammed into four longer ones. A shorter week forces the thing good design needs most: focus. It cuts busywork, sharpens decisions, and means the people doing your work arrive rested and think clearly. In our experience the work is better for it, and nobody misses the fifth day of meetings.

Fully remote, by design

Biotik is remote-first across London, Tallinn and the wider EU. We collaborate asynchronously and measure outcomes, not hours at a desk — which means clear written thinking, deep-work blocks that aren’t shredded by calls, and the freedom for senior people to do their best work wherever they are. Remote isn’t a concession we tolerate; it’s how we’re built.

Global health coverage

Every member of the team has global health coverage, wherever they live and work. Looking after people isn’t a perk we advertise — it’s a baseline. Secure, supported people take the long view and stay, which is how expertise compounds inside a small studio.

Why we work this way

The common thread is trust and autonomy. We hire senior people and give them ownership — of the work, their time and how they do it. We believe the best design comes from rested, trusted people with room to think, not from long hours, presence theatre, or process for its own sake. Fewer, better hours; fewer, better meetings; outcomes over optics.

What it means for clients

This isn’t only good for the people who work here — it’s why our clients get consistency. The senior people who start your project are the people who finish it: no pitch team handing off to juniors, no burnout-driven churn mid-engagement. Rested, senior and accountable, from kickoff to handover. It’s the same principle behind our product design and UX design work — do less, but do it properly.
