1. Write answer-first

Lead every page and every section with a direct, self-contained answer. State the definition or conclusion in the first one or two sentences, then support it. An engine extracting a passage should be able to lift that opening sentence and have it stand alone, out of context, and still be correct. Bury the answer three paragraphs down and you have made yourself unquotable.

2. Define entities and terms explicitly

4. Add structured data

Schema.org markup — Article, FAQPage, Organization, Product, BreadcrumbList — helps engines parse what your page is and who published it. It will not manufacture authority you do not have, but it removes ambiguity and reinforces your entity graph. 5. Offer quotable facts and named sources

Engines gravitate to concrete, citable statements: a specific figure, a named method, a dated finding, a clear step count. Where you have first-hand data, publish it cleanly and attribute it. Where you cite external facts, name the source and the year. Vague, hedged prose gives an engine nothing to lift; a precise, attributable sentence is easy to cite.

6. Build topical authority, not one-off posts

Depth beats scatter. Covering one topic thoroughly — a cluster of connected, internally-linked pages — signals expertise more strongly than a dozen shallow posts on unrelated subjects. This is where a deliberate content strategy earns its keep: pick the territory you can genuinely own and build it out until you are the obvious reference.

7. Get mentioned across the web (digital PR)

This is the biggest lever, and the one people under-invest in. Models form their sense of who is credible from how you are described across the open web — in publications, directories, forums, community answers, and other people's writing. Consistent, favourable mentions on third-party sites shape whether an engine trusts you enough to cite you. Digital PR, guest contributions, being listed where your category is discussed, and earning genuine references matter more here than any on-page trick.
